National Curriculum

The UK's National Curriculum and its four Key Stages, leading to GCSE qualifications, have been developed to improve standards of education and provide equal learning opportunities for all students.

Work-related learning (WRL) is now a statutory requirement of Key Stage 4, offering students aged 14-16 the chance to gain work experience and vocational qualifications.

CEBP focuses heavily on WRL, with the aim of improving economic wellbeing and financial capability of young people through various programmes of activity. All of our schemes use the QCDA's framework for economic wellbeing:

  • 'For work' - developing skills that can be used in the workplace
  • 'Through work' - learning about work through work experience
  • 'About work' - learning the 'hows' and 'whys' of business

WRL in the Primary Curriculum (Key Stages 1&2)
CEBP also runs WRL schemes targeting younger students, such as MicroSociety, which is a programme of business-related activities for year five students.
